Make The Best of a Downtime in Business

It’s been a rocky start to 2020. How can you make the best of the situation?

By PRANJAL VARSANI

Sometimes, no matter what you do, it seems impossible to overcome a slump in business. Now, with COVID-19 and the resulting crash in stock markets and oil prices how do you deal with this downturn? If your business hasn’t already felt the effects of the Corona virus, it is just a matter of time until the effects trickle into every economy and every business. So, how do you stay on track and overcome the challenges? How do you make the best of a downtime in business?

“If your business hasn’t already felt the effects of the Corona virus, it is just a matter of time until the effects trickle into every economy and every business.”

Here are 3 things that you can implement today:

1. Make your website a lead generating machine.

How much effort have you recently put on your website? There are over 1.7 billion websites in the world, with only less than 200 million or so that are actually active. (source: internetlivestats.com)

How long has it been since you’ve updated your website? How does it rank on Google? How many visitors have you had this quarter versus last quarter? Over 90% of the entrepreneurs we have interviewed have no idea.

Start with your website. An immensely powerful tool (and most overlooked) in increasing your reach, getting more leads and strengthening your brand. During a downtime, you have the time to get your website to work for you and become a lead generating machine.

2. Make social media your weapon.

Today, for around 250dh ($70) you can potentially reach 30,000 people through a paid social media campaign in UAE. At the same time, Facebook reach for unpaid posts is often less than 2%. So, if you’re wondering why you’re not getting enough likes or interaction it may just be the fact that not enough people are seeing your posts.

Set aside a small budget for social media. Better still, hire a social media agency that will track your results and be driven to get you leads. The returns will far exceed the investment. You can focus on improving your business, and the agency can focus on filling the sales funnel.

3. Track you marketing efforts and double down on your leads.

Implement a platform that tracks visitors to your site, measures performance of your social media and maps out your lead conversions. If you’re not measuring your results from all your marketing efforts, you are missing a massive opportunity. Today, there are several platforms you can use for your business that fit almost any budget. Use a platform that can integrate with all aspects of your business and that comes with necessary local support for you to get the most out of your marketing efforts.

I have attached a short guide on how you can monitor your social media in just 10 minutes a day. I hope these tips were helpful!
